General Assembly Shop

In April 1998, the new general assembly facility was opened, with the area of 36 000 m². The new general assembly at FSO is perceived by many experts as one of the most modern facilities of this kind in Europe. The equipment of this shop allows to assemble a few types of vehicles on two assembly lines. Presently, a few types of Chevrolet Aveo are assembled here. The second line, after transfer of Lanos production, is fully ready to launch assembly of a new vehicle. Transport of all parts and components is realized by overhead conveyors, floor conveyors, and reloading lifters. On the height of a few meters, there is the painted body storage which can contain approx. 80 painted car bodies. In the shop, there is also the automated storage for 320 engines, which are automatically transferred to the subassembly line. The present production capacity of this facility is 48 assembled cars per hour. For comparison, the old General Assembly Shop, which dates back to the Polonez production, was able to make 26 vehicles per hour.
